Vinho do Porto

For almost two millennia, a unique vineyard landscape was built on the shale slopes of the Douro Valley and, from it, an exceptional wine. Port Wine has been a key product of the Portuguese national economy since the 18th century, representing Portugal all over the World.

Danish, Jann Hinrich Andresen arrived in the city of Porto when he was 14. In 1845, at the age of 19, he founded Andresen Port house. After more than 170 years, this continues to be a traditional Port Wine cellar. This Port house is specialized in premium wines aged in wood barrels, with special emphasis on Tawny port wines, especially white Port’s. Andresen has in its cellars a century-old wine portfolio, which continues its ageing process in its wood barrels. All these wines have their registration updated since their vintage year until today, maintained and certified by the Port Wine Institute (IVDP).

Andresen's vintages are only placed on the market later on, for example, the vintage of 2000 was only bottled and available to retail in 2013. Port wines require time and care to achieve their full potential, therefore Andresen is meticulous and thoughtful when releasing their vintages.

Andresen Port wines are vinified near the Tua River, in the heart of the Douro region. Then they evolve for decades, in old 550-litre Wood Barrels, in the Andresen cellars in Gaia.
