Maria João de Almeida has been a journalist since 1995, having specialized in the area of ​​wines. She worked for TVI - Television Channel and worked for Expresso Journal for more than a decade.

She collaborates frequently with several publications and she's a jury member of several national and international wine and gastronomic competitions. She is the author of books, including "Memórias do Vinho" and "Guia do Enoturismo em Portugal", awarded the best in the world at the Gourmand Awards.

She was decorated by the Ordem dos Cavaleiros de Santo Urbano e São Vicente and she's a member of the prestigious Confraria do Vinho do Porto.

In 2009, it launched it's website www.mariajoaodealmeida.com, a reference in the areas of wines, gastronomy and tourism, and VinhoTV, the first online channel dedicated to wine on the web. She is also a wine taster and editor of the magazine Escanção.
